Guidance Notes:
Dealing with Racial and Sexual Harassment

Racial Harassment:
What is racial harassment?
Racial harassment occurs when a person is subjected to aggressive or offensive acts or language that relate to their racial or ethnic origin.

Verbal Harassment
This can cover personal insults, name calling, racist jokes, threats or ridiculing an individual for cultural or linguistic differences.

NOTE!
If you are subject to any behaviour that creates and intimidating, hostile or offensive environment for your server activities then this is harassment.

Sexual Harassment:
What is sexual harassment?
Sexual harassment involves unwanted sexual attention by members of the opposite or same sex.

Verbal Harassment
This can include suggestive remarks or innuendo, intimidating phone calls, intimidating Skype or Teamspeak chats, aggressively foul language with sexual overtones, or invitations or demands for sexual favours.

Visual Harassment
This includes the display or distribution of pornographic or sexually degrading pictures on the forum, or other areas of the servers.

NOTE!
If you are subject to any behaviour that creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment for your server activities then this is harassment.

What should you do if you are subject to Racial or Sexual Harassment?

Remain calm. Do not feel that it is your fault or that you have to tolerate it.

If possible, make it absolutely clear to the person causing the offence that their behaviour is unacceptable to you. This may be sufficient to stop it.

If you do not feel able to tackle the person concerned, this does not mean that you are consenting to harassment.

Keep a detailed note of the date and incidents that you are subject to. Including screen shots and recordings if possible.

Report the incident to a Trusted Member or one of the Staff team.

All complaints will be treated in the strictest confidence and individual members will not be involved without your knowledge, consent or permission.
